Large Bronze Statue of Stylized Ndebele African Woman, After Karl Hagenauer $7000
This full-size sculpture of an exotic Ndebele African woman adorned with metal rings around her neck and hoop earrings, stands gracefully balancing a brass jug on her head, mounted on a round metal base. Reminiscent of Austrian bronze masters of the mid twentieth century. In the style of Hagenauer's Africaine à la jarre, African with a jar. Sleek, stylized and modern to a point of abstraction. Early 1960's purchase. I remember 8 months of layaway payment trips.
