Nat King Cole The Trio Recordings - 5 CD boxed set XLNT!

Selling this classic boxed 5 CD set of Nat King Cole The Trio Recordings The Jazz Collector Edition Titled "Nat King Cole The Trio recordings" and "The Jazz Collector Edition" this 5 CD set was originally produced and sold in 1991, so I imagine it might be a bit harder-to-find as a complete set.

DISC ONE: covers 1944-45 with the classic trio (Nat King Cole backed by Johnny Miller on bass and Oscar Moore on guitar) and clocks in at 36:51.
DISC TWO: All of the tracks are from 1945 and clocks in at 42:22.
DISC THREE: Nat King Cole backed by Johnny Miller on bass and Oscar Moore on guitar, and clocks in at 46:32.
DISC FOUR: with Anita O'Day and the last five tracks feature the Trio backing her vocals. Clocks in at 35:12.
DISC FIVE: This seems to be a catch-all that features 1940-41 performances of the Trio with Wesley Prince on bass and Oscar Moore on guitar, to circa 1949-50 performances as a quartet that included Jack Constanzo on congas and Irving Ashby on guitar, to mid 1950s TV broadcast material.

From an online review: "This is a must have for any lover of jazz standards. so much of NKC's work is schmaltzy and main stream, this is the real deal. Nat has an incredible gift in interpretation, vocal talent, and the keyboard work is especially tasty. some of the tunes are slow balads, and there is a match in fast tempo swing numbers as well. If you enjoy playing jazz you'll be out looking for the charts for many of these numbers. includes 'only a paper moon', 'don't blame me'; 'sweet loraine'; besame mucho; i can't give you anything but love; boogie a la king; i'min the mood for love; too marvelous for words; laura; blues & swing; this will make you laugh; ain't misbehavin; rosetta; honeysuckle rose; tea for two; pitchin up a boogie; GREAT piano work, fine vocals, inspirational guitar from the 40's. (war time release)"

And another: "This five-CD set is highly recommended and contains many exciting performances. The bulk of this package (most of four discs) features the Nat King Cole Trio on radio transcriptions during 1944-1945 and these renditions are easily the equal of their more famous studio recordings. The fifth disc is a hodgepodge that reaches back to 1940 for six numbers and forward to 1956 for a few songs performed on The Dorsey Brothers TV Show and on Nat King Cole's own program." All 5 Discs seem to be in excellent condition.

One of the jewel cases has a broken hinge and two have some damage to the center CD holder button.

Pictured is the outer box and all five disc jewel cases - front and back.
