Beautiful Rickenbacker 4003 bass in the desirable and quite rare AUTUMNGLO finish, produced in October of 1979, the first year's run of the 4003 model bass.
The instrument is in exceptional condition for its age, as it was well kept and maintained. It provides excellent playability due to a few very useful modifications.
The previous owner had the electronics gone through by no other than the legendary Curtis Novak, know for his state of the art vintage pickup work. He rewound the original neck pick-up to hotter toaster pick-up style specs, and replaced two faulty pots at the time as well. The remaining two pots are correctly date coded from the year of production in late 1978. As a result of Curtis'work you get a reliable vintage instrument that sounds as good as it looks without loosing the Rickenbacker sound the brand is known for.
Installation marks in the back of the headstock suggest that one of the original tuners gave up and a single non-original tuner was installed at times. A full set of matching Hipshot tuners are now installed and are not only a quality upgrade but also suit the looks of this vintage instrument quite well.
While the original (useless) bridge pick-up chrome cover is missing like it is the case on most vintage Rickenbackers, the bass still comes in its original hardshell case as shown.
