40 songs in 60 days?
Looking to assemble a band of 4-5 players. Do you sing? We’re gonna need singers. Guys that can rock the walk, not just talk. Guys who know lots of songs even though they’ve never played them because they’ve been listening and they know their stuff…cales, modes, fancy chords, etc. Reading actual notation won’t be needed, but playing by ear and/or the ability to read charts is. The goal is to learn an evening worth of songs in 2 months. Can it be done? Who’s ready to try??
This band project wouldn’t be for the kind of player that says “I can play that song” but days later, still hasn’t learned it. Learning the material BEFORE band practice isn’t just about knowing the material, it also shows respect your fellow band mate’s time. We’d all invest 2 months practice. Everyone would pay their share towards a rehearsal space, which would come complete with a P.A. system which these days are mostly included in the rental price. It would be eight, 4-hour evening sessions to learn 40 new songs - rock, classic rock, soul, pop, disco, funk, Motown, a smidge of country, and even a taste of smooth jazz. (No Heavy Metal or Bluegrass, sorry.)
From simple 1950’s 1-4-5 pop tunes, to a 1960’s psychedelic song, to a 70’s progressive rocker, to a fun 80’s New Wave tune, to some yacht rock, to a cool Smooth Jazz tune or two with some newer select songs, also. Hey, let’s dance.
If you’re tired of sitting at home doing nothing with all of that musical equipment & experience - reply via email with your name, age, experience, and a cell number for phone calls and text. Incomplete messages will not receive a response. The band will consist of keyboard(s), drums, guitar(s), and bass. Singers owning their own P.A system are also welcome.
